Cockburn Gazette - - OPINION -

ON Friday, March 10, local artists Art x 5 launched their first arts exhibition at the Hamilton Hill Memorial Hall with the Mayor, Logan Howlett, invited to open the exhibition.

A few days prior to the exhibition Mayor Howlett made contact to say he was unwell and not sure if he would be able to attend.

Friday evening came and an obviously unwell Mayor accompanied by his wife arrived to launch the exhibition and made a brief but welcome speech.

We live in a time when we often question and doubt the efficacy of our appointed government representatives and are quick to complain but slow to praise; but in Mayor Logan Howlett the City of Cockburn got a good one.

The Art x 5 group would like to express its' sincere thanks to the mayor for his support of the arts and local artist; for launching the Art x 5 exhibition and for making his civic responsibilities as Mayor a priority above all else. MATT and ANN GARRITY, Coogee.
