TIME FOR A RENEWABLE ENERGY REVOLUTION

Cockburn Gazette - - OPINION -

AUSTRALIA needs a Royal Commission into the Federal and State governments’ ties with the dirty, outdated energy sector.

Why are we talking about any fossil fuel technologies as a solution to the energy crisis when there are so many cheap and benign renewable energy options?

Beyond Zero Emissions (http://bze.org.au ) have done research into Australia's ability to provide (export) power derived from renewables to a huge sector of Asia as well as Australia, as we are so rich in renewables.

Why are State and Federal governments still talking about 1950s technology?

Why are the so-called leaders not listening to the experts who research and develop and cost renewables?

We need a Royal Commission! The future of the planet depends on renewables.

The jewel of the world’s coral reefs – the Great Barrier Reef – is dying due to climate change-induced coral bleaching. Every inch of its 344,000sq km contains little creatures who will die.

C'mon. We need to change our ways.

ANDREA CALLAGHAN, Hilton.
