Cockburn Gazette - - HEALTH WATCH -

MAGPIES are usually considered the bad boys of Australian skies, but visitors to Fremantle over the Easter long weekend will need to keep an eye out for a particularly rebellious pair of cockatoos.

All the way from the United Kingdom, Surreal McCoy and their Hell’s Cockies will fly into town for the Fremantle Street Arts Festival and the act’s Mike Rowan said patrons should beware of the cheeky and sometimes downright rude pair.

“I am a Scotsman and it took me a while to realise that cockies are actually the real hooligans of the bush,” he said.

“I really like all our characters to be politically incorrect. I don't want prettiness, I want squeals of glee and terror, so the natural progression for the Cockies was to become ‘Hell's Cockies’, bikies from the bush.

“We have performed all around the world and though I can think of other great festivals I can think of none better than Fremantle Street Arts.

“We feel enormously flattered to have been asked back again.”

Hell’s Cockies will be at Little Creatures Brewery on April 15 and 17 and the Esplanade Hotel on April 15, 16 and 17.

The Fremantle Street Arts Festival is on April 13 to 17.
