Children’s Day full of fun

Cockburn Gazette - - STREETWATCH -

BARK-painting with mud paint and boomerang decorating were among the activities on offer in Cockburn for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Children’s Day.

On Friday, August 4, about 40 children and their families had the chance to take part in craft activities, enjoy a sausage sizzle and relax at the Len Packham Reserve in Coolbellup.

Gary Allen, from Cooby Cares, was among those who attended the celebrations.

“It was a really fun, simple, easygoing event. Our daughter (7) really enjoyed the art and it was great to chat with other Cooby locals,” he said.

This year’s theme was Value Our Rights, Respect Our Culture, Bring Us Home, which recognised the importance of strong connection to family and customs.
