WASO violinist Kate Sullivan is a big fan of film music composer John Williams, which is just as well considering the orchestra has covered much of his repertoire this year.

“The music is incredible and it just makes the movies what they are,” Sullivan said.

“His music is a big part of creating the film’s magic. It’s great but incredibly difficult actually for the violinists; we’re playing non-stop and it’s really fast but still enjoyable.”

Following concerts of Williams favourites and Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone earlier this year, WASO will present the return of the Harry Potter film concert series with Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets in Concert at Riverside Theatre on November 10 and 11.

Sullivan, who has performed with WASO for two years, said audience members at the previous Harry Potter concert got into the spirit by dressing up as different characters.
