Hope short-lived for Fre­man­tle

PERTH won a hotly-con­tested match by 25 runs against Fre­man­tle in the first in­nings at Fletcher Park East on Satur­day af­ter­noon.

Sit­ting at 4-54, Daniel Kennedy and Chris Daven­port en­tered the crease and im­me­di­ately gave the vis­i­tors a chance at vic­tory.

The pair put on a gritty 78-run part­ner­ship be­fore Daven­port was dis­missed for 38, while giv­ing Fre­man­tle re­newed hope at 5-132.

The hope was short-lived for Fre­man­tle as it lost its re­main­ing five wick­ets for 51 runs, fin­ish­ing on 183 and 25 runs short of vic­tory.
