Get set for festivals in Freo

Cockburn Gazette - - NEWS -

SETS on the Beach and Fish n Sips Seafood Festival will return to Fremantle Port Beach this year.

The City of Fremantle has approved one further and final edition of Sets on the Beach and sundown session.

A spokeswoman for Offworld Production said they were happy with the decision.

Fish n Sips Seafood Festival will receive a subsidy of 75 per cent on hire fees in 2019 and more subsidies of 50 per cent in year three and 25 per cent in year four.

Ian Hutchinson, from Coast restaurant which supports the festival, said there would be no festival without the subsidy.

“This kind of festival requires considerable investment to get established,” he said.

“We will run at a loss for the first four years, so sponsorships and aid like this are essential.”

Mr Hutchinson said he aimed to make this the main seafood festival in WA.

Other approvals included a New Year’s Eve concert and New Year’s Day concert. Sunday trading hours were also extended for Coast during November 2018 to April 2019 to Sundays until 9pm.
