Creative approach

Cockburn Gazette - - NEWS -

QT Hotels and Resorts has taken the unusual approach of enlisting Fremantle creatives San Cisco singer and drummer Scarlett Stevens and Empire Rose fashion designer Kath Cizeika to help with its recruitment process ahead of its QT Perth opening on August 1.

The national hotel chain is looking to employ buskers and street artists through its recruitment process, held in partnership with the WA Academy of Performing Arts (WAAPA) where potential staff will go through a mock audition process.

The duo will be joined by photographer Jarrad Seng and actor Adelaide Kane, who will highlight Perth’s culture and what inspires them about the city via video teasers.

QT Perth general manager Jason Cooley said prospective staff would take part in theatrical role play and impromptu interviews at WAAPA to let their personality shine through.

“We are seeking true individuals for a range of jobs we are currently recruiting for, including our ‘director of chaos’,” he said.

“Tattoos, man-buns and kooky hair styles are welcome – as long as you have a passion for the creative industries and devoted interest in exceptional hospitality.”

Cizeika said the hotel was her home away from home and encouraged those in creative industries to get involved.

“If you are just starting out, perhaps you are a young designer, artist or muso, then this would be a brilliant place to work, surrounded by other creatives and likeminded people,” she said.
