Rebels wrap up the Force

Cockburn Gazette - - SPORT - Tom Tapping

IT was almost an intraclub match in challenging conditions at nib Stadium on Saturday night when Western Force met a Melbourne Rebels team featuring seven former Force players for the third World Series Rugby match.

The Force started well with the first try at the 20minute mark, but the well drilled Rebels were too slick and fought back, running out winners 28-12.

Despite the appalling weather conditions and a Wallabies Test on TV earlier in the evening, a large crowd of more than 13,900 braved the wet and windy conditions.

The grudge match was at times very fiery but entertaining in trying conditions.

The Force held their own for much of the match despite predictions it would be a very one-sided game.
