A CAREER in the fitness industry and a passion to improve people’s health is the inspiration behind Cockburn couple Jason and Stephanie Correia’s business Recoveri in Cockburn Central.

The former bodybuilding duo opened the cryotherapy and health establishment late last year after undergoing cryotherapy themselves.

“A couple of years ago when we were doing a bodybuilding comp, we were quite sore from training,” Mrs Correia said.

“We found one (a machine) and started doing it and we just loved it.”

The machine is set for three minutes and can get as cold as -150 degrees.

According to Mrs Correia it helps treat arthritis and inflammation, reduce stress, increase endorphins and can burn up to 800 calories.

“It was originally invented to treat arthritis in the ’70s,” she said.

“We’ve had people feel less aches and pains, have more energy and people feel like they’re on a natural high because it releases feel-good endorphins.”

Mrs Correia said as well as the whole body cryotherapy treatment, Recoveri also conducted spot treatments and the NormaTec Pulse recovery system, which helped with the rehabilitation of sports injuries.

“We felt that there were so many gyms and fitness facilities opening up but not enough places promoting recovery,” Mrs Correia said.
