THE SECRETS TO A SUCCESSFUL TECH PRODUCT

Maxime explains two important things to keep in mind when creating a ‘connected’ device.

THE WHOLE FAMILY CAN USE IT

What I look for when buying a connected product is whether it passes the spouse-and-kids test. Will everyone in the household find it easy to use? My seven-year-old and even my four-year-old know how to use Google Home. They say, ‘Hey Google, what does a dolphin sound like?’ They get a kick out of it and will spend an hour just asking other random questions. It’s like an encyclopaedia that they don’t even have to know how to read to use.

IT RESPONDS TO A PAIN POINT

My connected light switches and light bulbs solve a pain point by making sure my home doesn’t look empty when I’m away on vacation. I’ve also got a very complicated set-up with my TV, cable box, Apple TV, Comcast and a 5.1 surround-sound system but the Logitech remote control allows my kids to press a button to watch Netflix. It solves a real problem and my family knows how to use it.
