Amazing Fantasy #15
Spider-Man swung into action for the very first time in August 1962, at the hands of writer/editor Stan Lee and legendary artist Steve Ditko. The comic book was, of course, Amazing Fantasy #15, the final issue of what had been an anthology series featuring monster stories. The Marvel Age had already begun with the Fantastic Four and the Hulk, but the cover of that comic, with SpiderMan swinging through the New York skyline, a terrified crook under his arm, is rightly one of the most iconic in comics history. Peter Parker the teenage wallflower, bitten by a radioactive spider… This is where it all began.
