Spider-Man #42

Comic Heroes - - Feature -

If that first cover is iconic, then so must be the final panel of Amazing Spider-Man #42 in 1966, where a goggleeyed Peter Parker (and the reader) claps eyes for the first time on the too-cool-for-school redhead who says “Face it, tiger… You just hit the jackpot!” Peter had been avoiding her for months because his Aunt May had been trying to set them up with each other, and the big reveal of Mary Jane as a classic ’60s It girl sent him into a tailspin. MJ eventually became his on-off leading lady, after platinum blonde Gwen Stacy (more about her later).
