Amazing Spider-Man #129
This issue in February 1974 saw the debut of two series mainstays by writer Gerry Conway and artist Ross Andru. One was recurring villain the Jackal, and the other, who made the cover, was Frank Castle, the Punisher. Armed to the teeth and bearing his trademark skull design on his chest, the Punisher believed that problems should not be solved with webs and quips, but with searing bullets. He would go on to become a major force in the Marvel universe, not just in the comics but in movie and TV outings too.
