In­klings get write ad­vice from au­thor

AR­MADALE word­smiths were treated to a visit from a multi-award win­ning au­thor.

Chil­dren’s au­thor Nor­man Jor­gensen has pub­lished 12 ti­tles for young peo­ple, and he paid a visit to the In­klings Writ­ers Work­shop at Ar­madale Li­brary.

In­klings or­gan­iser Gemma Sid­ney said one of the work­shop’s mem­bers had been talk­ing to Jor­gensen at an­other func­tion and he was ea­ger to visit the group.

“He spoke of the tri­als and tribu­la­tions of be­ing a writer, book­shop owner and pub­lisher and gave great ad­vice on hon­ing our skills,” she said.

“Nor­man men­tioned dur­ing the ses­sion that when he was grow­ing up, all the kids’ sto­ries were set in Eng­land and other far­away places. It’s what in­spired him to set his sto­ries right here in WA.”

In­klings has been run­ning at Ar­madale Li­brary since March and all are wel­come.

Ses­sions cost $5 per per­son and are held every sec­ond Thurs­day even­ing.
