SINGING FOR JOY
SOPRANO IS BACK
CANNING Vale soprano Magda Lisek cannot wait for her concert at the Government House Ballroom.
The former Carey Baptist College student will join pianist Mark Coughlan, mezzo-soprano Katherine Goyder and internationally renowned tenor Paul O’Neill for her second concert at the venue on September 16.
Despite being just 24 years old, Lisek has experience beyond her years, having performed as First Gossip in Jacques Ibert’s Angelique, Lady Billows in WAAPA's adaptation of Albert Herring and Brunnhilde in new play Opera! The Opera.
The WA Academy of Performing Arts graduate said she could not wait to set foot inside the Government House again.
“I love performing and coming to concerts at Government House Ballroom," she said.
“The venue is so magnificent – the chandeliers, the architecture, the acoustics; there really isn't another place like it in WA.”
Lisek said it was a privilege to be able to perform at the venue again.
“I wanted this concert to be an unforgettable night of unforgettable and popular music, a night that everyone can enjoy and say ‘hey I know this song’,” she said.
“There will definitely be something for everyone, including a few songs by Chopin in Polish that might not have been heard by an Australian audience before.”
Tickets are $45 for adults, $35 for concession and $30 per person for group bookings of 10 or more.
