JFK ROCKS ANNUAL ARTS CENTRE EVENT
PSYCH-ROCKERS JFK have claimed victory at Gozzy Rock’s 30th anniversary event at the Don Russell Performing Arts Centre.
The judges awarded the five-piece the top prize after being impressed with its psychedelic guitar riffs, infectious Brit-Pop melodies and cohesive harmony sections.
Twenty-year-old Mitchell Martin, who was nominated for WAM’s Folk Song of the Year in 2016, finished second, while Farraday’s Cage won the encouragement award. The 30th anniversary event featured 54 entries, including six finalists, who vied for over $10,000 worth of prizes.
Last year’s winners Young Robin and 2014 winners Raksha were guest performers.
