LUMEN CHRISTI COLLEGE
LUMEN Christi College has begun refurbishing its 33-year-old campus, starting with the recently renovated English block and soon-to-be-finished main entrance.
The English block has been renovated to mirror the bright interior of the junior and senior transition centres which were opened in 2012 and 2015.
The new interior is fully enclosed with carpeted flooring, bright walls, high ceilings and natural light, providing a welcoming and weather safe area for the students.
New lockers were also installed as was a display monitor, air conditioning and new projectors.
Lumen Christi College principal Darren O’Neill said while the college has worked hard to add new facilities over the last three decades, including a performing arts theatre, sports centre, technology rooms and transition centres, it is also essential to ensure that the original class rooms are kept up-todate.
“It is important that we look to upgrade our teaching facilities so as to make them vibrant, inviting and contemporary spaces in which students can learn comfortably and effectively,” he said.
“The well-being and academic encouragement of our students is at the heart of all our projects.
“By improving their learning environments, we encourage students to take pride in their college.”
The recent refurbishment is part of a larger scope of works to improve the learning environments.
The Humanities and Social Sciences (HASS) block is next to be refurbished with works currently underway and scheduled for completion before the 2018 school year commences.
The College Refurbishment Plan will then see the cafeteria updated followed by the maths and science blocks.
