Man fined over drugs, weapons
CANNABIS AND KNIVES FOUND IN CAR
A MAN has been fined after a police search uncovered cannabis and prohibited weapons in his car and home in Gosnells earlier this year.
Armadale Magistrates Court heard the case on Tuesday morning, with the man facing two charges of possessing a prohibited drug and four charges of possessing a prohibited weapon.
The police prosecutor said the accused was stopped in a carpark in Gosnells in January, where he was found to have 14g of cannabis, other portions of cannabis of under a gram, smoking equipment with traces of methylamphetamine, and a spring-assisted flick knife.
There was also an extendable baton hidden in the car and a credit card knife concealed in the man’s wallet.
The next day police searched the man’s house, where they also found a spring-loaded knife.
The man was fined $1000 plus costs by the magistrate, who recognised the man’s early guilty pleas and hard work put into a rehab program.
The magistrate said the man did not deserve his addiction and commended the work he had put in to walking away from what was in his past.
The man will face more charges from the police searches relating to sell and supply soon in the district court.
