CHILD Abuse Squad de­tec­tives have charged a 34-year-old Can­ning Vale woman as a re­sult of their in­ves­ti­ga­tion into child sex of­fences.

It is al­leged th­ese in­ci­dents oc­curred while the woman was em­ployed as a teacher at a sec­ondary school in the Perth met­ro­pol­i­tan area.

The in­ci­dents al­legedly took place be­tween 2015 and 2017 and in­volved a fe­male stu­dent be­tween 15 and 17 years old at the time.

The woman has been charged with var­i­ous of­fences, in­clud­ing four counts of in­de­cently deal­ing with a child over 16 un­der their author­ity, two counts of sex­u­ally pen­e­trat­ing a child over 13 and un­der 16, and per­sis­tent sex­ual con­tact with a child un­der 16.

The woman is due to ap­pear be­fore Perth Mag­is­trates Court on Wed­nes­day, Oc­to­ber 18.
