Police have charged a 31-year-old Beckenham man after he evaded police on November 2. Police say they tried to stop the man’s Holden Acclaim on Kalamunda Road, High Wycombe, at 9.50pm but he failed to stop. They lost sight of the car but saw it again later on Ridge Hill Road, Gooseberry Hill. When police went to talk to the man he drove off, leading them through Gooseberry Hill, Helena Valley and Midland before he was stopped by a tyre deflation device in Bellevue. The driver ran away but was arrested shortly after. Police seized an axe under the driver’s seat. They said the 31-year-old female passenger also had her four-year-old son unrestrained on her lap in the car. The man has been charged with offences, including reckless driving to escape pursuit by police, possessing a prohibited drug and carrying an article with the intent to cause fear.
