Elite triathlon makes welcome return
AFTER two seasons away, elite triathlon is back in Armadale. The SunSmart Triathlon Series will return to Champion Lakes next month, with more than 1000 participants expected to take part in the event.
The City of Armadale Triathlon is the third race of the series and will cater to all levels, with competitions for elites and novices, as well as a tadpole category for those aged seven to 11.
Race director David Budge said he was excited to see the series back in Armadale.
“Champion Lakes has always provided one of the best triathlon courses in Western Australia, and after a brief hiatus we’re pleased to come back,” he said.
“The race will offer a fantastic opportunity for elite triathletes to show off their speed and determination but it will also be an ideal platform for first-timers to give a triathlon a go.
“Most people think that to do a triathlon you need to be super fit, which is not the case – anyone with a good base fitness can take on our enticer (short-course) triathlon.”
The City of Armadale Triathlon is on February 18 at the Champion Lakes Regatta Centre.
