Band set to make killing
ICONIC pop-rock band Killing Heidi and the Australia’s Got
Talent alumni Justice Crew will kick off the City of Gosnells’ 2018 Homegrown Festival at the Illuminate Night Party.
Opening the month-long festival, the free ticketed event will feature two Australian acts who left their mark on the music scene from 5pm-9pm at Gosnells Oval on Saturday, February 17.
Killing Heidi burst on to the music scene with their 2000 album Reflector, which featured Australian number 1 hit
Mascara and top-10 singles Weir and Live Without It, accentuated by Ella Hooper’s distinct vocals and Jesse Hooper’s catchy guitars.
After a decade-long hiatus, the siblings announced the band would reform in 2016 to celebrate its 20th anniversary – which makes their performance just their second in Perth in over 12 years.
Originally a dance troupe, Justice Crew wowed audiences on Australia’s Got Talent in 2010 before going to record number 1 hits Boom
Boom and Que Sera while supporting the likes of One Direction, Janet Jackson and
Kesha. In addition to the mainstage excitement, roving performers, discounted carnival rides, live art painting with Mel McVee and delicious food will ensure there’s something for the whole family.
The Illuminate Night Party is just the tip of the iceberg for Homegrown Festival, which promises a month of fun events from February 17 onwards.
Following Illuminate, four weeks of events will showcase the vibrancy of the City of Gosnells community, featuring everything from eco adventures, gastronomic experiences, live music, art, to wellbeing workshops, children’s activities and plenty of opportunities to try or learn something new.
To wrap proceedings up is the ever-popular Little Scribblers event on March 17, which has a science theme this year.
Visitors are encouraged to don their lab coats and safety glasses to have fun and learn through experiments, astronomy and forensics.
