THE good timing of a seagull has helped Balcatta’s Kate Fitzpatrick take out Community Newspaper Group’s Sunset Wine Photo Competition.

Ms Fitzpatrick won accommodation at Rendezvous Scarborough hotel and two tickets to enjoy Sunset Wine, Scarborough’s boutique wine festival, on February 18 and 19.

She had been enjoying Cottesloe’s Sculptures By The Sea, in particular the work Kakashi by New York artist Zilvinas Kempinas. Ms Fitzpatrick is an avid amateur photographer and, using her trusty Samsung S4, she pulled the trigger just as her feathered friend glided into shot.

“I just really liked that sculpture in particular, it was reflecting the light really nicely,” she said. Ms Fitzpatrick’s tip was to snap lots. “The more you take, the more options you have,” she said.
