Balloon pic a summer winner
PHOTOGRAPHERS WIN SPOT PRIZES
THE City of Armadale has announced the winner of its Dale does Summer photographic competition.
Stuart McKay has won a $2500 shopping spree for his photograph of his daughter Eilidh running with a balloon.
Emigrating from Scotland 11 years ago, Mr McKay became interested in photography when he was 17.
“I started with live music photography, going to gigs at 17, 18, then the passion developed from there.”
He said he only became serious about photography in the last three years after buying a DSLR camera.
The photograph was tinkered a little in digital editing to isolate the colour of the balloon and add the City of Armadale logo.
“These days anyone can download an app on their phone and do it,” Mr McKay said.
The City was inundated with submissions from budding photographers, with runners up receiving a handful of spot prizes including double passes to the cinema, free admission to the Armadale Aquatic Centre and food and refreshment vouchers.
Entries had to be a portrait or a landscape at one of the City’s summer events.
Winners were chosen for the photograph which showed creativity and best captured the feeling of summer in Armadale.
