Armadale trounced by rampant Sorrento
ARMADALE slumped to a 5-1 loss against Sorrento in round 4 of the NPLWA.
Braces to Jack Salter and Billy Quinncroft saw off the hosts in a physical encounter.
Sorrento took the lead inside 20 minutes when Salter reacted quickest to a loose ball in the box.
They doubled their lead soon after when a deflected Scott Witschge shot fell to Quinncroft, who made no mistake.
Quinncroft added a third for Sorrento in the 35th minute as tempers began to flare between both teams.
Armadale’s Kyle King pulled one back just before the break when he latched on to a free kick.
Salter almost put the result beyond doubt after half-time when he rounded goalkeeper Michael Craggs, only to have his shot blocked by the Armadale defence.
However, they did not have to wait long to make it 4-1, when Scott Bulloch converted after Craggs could only parry a shot into his path.
Craggs was forced into an excellent close-range save by Reece Vittiglia soon after, but could do little to prevent Salter from rounding him to score Sorrento’s fifth with just over 10 minutes to play.
The result means Sorrento kept hold of top spot, while Armadale sit third-bottom with just one win in four games.
