Sikh Association extension approved
THE City of Gosnells has approved the Sikh Association of WA’s (SAWA) application to extend its premises on Shreeve Road.
The association plans to build a two-storey extension next to its current temple.
The ground floor will provide dishwashing and toilet facilities, while the first floor will include classrooms, an office, library, mothers’ room and storage.
Construction will not infringe on any other properties in the vicinity, as the association plans to build on available land within the lot.
SAWA treasurer Paramjit Singh Nagra said they desperately required more room.
“We're a bit tight over here; we’ve got a lot of people coming in who want to have meetings every Sunday,” he said.
“You can imagine 100 people wanting to have rooms. They want privacy.”
The council sent consultation letters to 249 nearby properties and received seven objections to the project.
