WORK to improve turning lanes at the Spencer and Yale roads intersection in Thornlie will take place between June and August. The left-hand turning lane from Yale Road turning north into Spencer Road will be lengthened from 30-70 metres. The project will cost $600,000, of which the State Government contributed $400,000, with the City contributing the remaining $200,000. Deputy mayor Julie Brown said the roadworks were necessary to ease long-term congestion concerns. “Once complete, congestion will be reduced on both sides of Yale Road, reducing travel times and making it safer for drivers and pedestrians alike.” Cr Brown asked people to drive carefully through the area or consider taking an alternative route.
