ARMADALE GIRLS BAG 16 FIRST PLACE AWARDS
ARMADALE showed off some of its talented youngsters on stage at the Bayswater Dance Festival during the school holidays.
The Elite Dance Company placed in 43 routines with a group of dancers between five and 14.
The dancers took out 16 first place awards and one received a perpetual trophy for being named Sub Junior Dancer of the Festival.
The girls practiced several times a week in preparation for the competition, including private lessons, with the adjudicator commending the team on their “fresh” choreography.
Studio owner Brooke Fitzgerald has been teaching dance for 15 years. and operating Elite for five.
She encourages her dance community to take to social media with the hashtag #unleashtheelite.
She said the young dancers were dedicated and determined.
“I was a dancer myself,” she said. “I love watching the hard work they put in. They go on stage and shine and you can see it paying off when they enjoy themselves.”
Elite teaches a variety of styles, from jazz to tap, ballet, hip hop, contemporary and lyrical.
Ms Fitzgerald said local kids with an eye on getting into dance should jump in and give it a go.
“Do your research on a studio, believe in yourself, and have fun,” she said.
