There is out­door ex­er­cise equip­ment with work­out sug­ges­tions at parks in Ar­madale, Brook­dale, Kelm­scott, Piara Wa­ters and Ro­ley­stone.

Parkrun at Cham­pion Lakes is just one walk­ing group that meets each week and has a group of about 70 peo­ple walk­ing and run­ning on Satur­day morn­ings.

There are a se­ries of U Fit work­out videos de­signed specif­i­cally for 10 parks in the area, with in­for­ma­tion at ar­madale.wa.gov.au /u-fit-park-edi­tion.

The City of Ar­madale of­fers a Get Ac­tive Out­doors brochure with more free ac­tiv­i­ties in the area, in­clud­ing maps, de­tails and con­tact num­bers. HEALTHY EAT­ING Curtin Uni­ver­sity's Dr Kyla Rin­grose said the more par­ents and guardians mod­elled eat­ing healthy food and be­ing phys­i­cally ac­tive, the more chil­dren would copy them. She said small, sus­tain­able changes were key, in­clud­ing:

Eat­ing one more serve of ve­g­ies ev­ery day, or snack­ing on fruit in­stead of junk food; Eat­ing to­gether as a fam­ily; Turn­ing off the TV at meal­times; Cook­ing meals at home in­stead of buy­ing fast food; and Get­ting rid of sug­ary drinks and of­fer­ing only wa­ter or milk at home.
