KELMSCOTT is getting a brand new community garden.

The City of Armadale approved the proposal from Kelmscott Community Garden Inc at a meeting earlier this month.

The garden will be established at Lot 2333, 55 River Road, and the community is encouraged to get involved with the project to hone their vegetable and herb cultivation skills while making friends with their neighbours.

“In addition to gardening activities, there is scope for workshops, busy bees and social gatherings attracting like-minded people to participate, and the people involved can supplement their food and reduce their grocery bills,” Armadale Mayor Henry Zelones said.

“Gardens such as this also provide opportunities for children to lean about environmental and sustainability matters as they watch the plants grow.”
