SCHOOL drop-offs and pickups at Southern River College will now be safer, thanks to a recently completed road upgrade.

The City of Gosnells’ Southern River Road upgrade includes a new access way, additional parking and a ‘Kiss-n-Ride’ drop-off section in the school car park.

The upgrade also included a roundabout to improve road safety and reduce congestion.

Southern River College principal Everal Miocevich said the new access way and car park helped ease parking problems and road safety issues created by the school’s increasing number of students.

“Feedback from parents, students, teachers and community members has been overwhelmingly positive,” Ms Miocevich said.

“This has been a muchawaited change to the Ashburton Drive and Southern River Road access.”

The work fits in well with the college’s new facade and aligns with recent refurbishments and garden areas.

“When communities work together we can achieve great things,” Ms Miocevich said.

She thanked the City of Gosnells for the improvements and the way they were carried out.
