HILBERT will soon play host to a new adventure playground more than three times the size of the WACA arena.

The 6.6ha park is nearing completion at Stockland’s new Sienna Wood community and will officially open on December 3.

The centrepiece of the $4.8 million dollar park, which will be Sienna Wood’s first playground and Stockland’s largest park in WA, is a 6000sq m enclosed play space featuring a 30metre shipwreck surrounded by rocks, sand and shipping cargo.

Other highlights include a dry creek bed with logs for children to walk across, viewing platforms, giant swings, a dual all-abilities flying fox, water and sand-play elements, in-ground trampolines, slides, musical equipment where kids can beat out tunes and shipping containers to explore.

Stockland WA general manager Col Dutton said Sienna Wood was a hive of activity.

“It is so exciting watching this park evolve – everyone is counting down the days until it is completed,’’ Mr Dutton said.

“We are anticipating that the park will become a drawcard for families in Perth’s thriving southern growth corridor.

“This is a fantastic play space that will allow kids to be creative.

"They can have endless fun as they study a treasure map or walk the plank, climb nets and navigate the high seas on the ship.”

Stockland teamed up with the Touched By Olivia Foundation to ensure the playspace met the needs of people of all abilities.

The design elements of the Sienna Wood park have been created by landscape architects Emerge Associates.

The park caters to children of all ages, with older children having access to a turfed area with table tennis and a basketball court.

The new facility includes a large enclosed leash-free dog park for residents to exercise their pooches, while a network of walkways and cycle paths will connect the playground, fitness zones and barbecue and shaded areas.
