Give triathlon a try
AN ARMADALE nurse is encouraging others to get fit this summer by giving triathlon a try.
Monica Borrill is a member of the Perth Hills Triathlon Club, and said the community spirit of the club was fantastic.
“I discovered the club by accident when I was swimming at an Armadale pool, and they invited me to join them,” she said.
“They all looked so professional and I haven’t looked back since.
“I love training with the club, and they supported me to my first half Ironman last year.
“It was really scary but so exciting,” she said.
Ms Borrill fits training around her life as a surgical nurse, and has completed several short distance races and the Ironman 70.3 in Busselton.
The Perth Hills Triathlon Club is welcoming new members with its inaugural novice triathlon program, which will teach people fresh to the sport about how to train and compete.
The program will be led by veteran triathlete and coach Rob ‘Slim’ Wiles.
