Armadale teams crumble
CRICKET ARMADALE Cricket Club suffered a disastrous first day of the new season as all three teams lost.
First Grade began its flag defence with a 36-run loss to Leeming, who they defeated in the grand final last year.
Armadale won the toss, sending Leeming in to bat, and looked strong early as four early wickets for Harry Bradshaw on his first grade debut reduced them to 5-74.
However, Leeming got back on top and looked dangerous at 5-131 before Armadale took three wickets in quick succession.
Leeming’s tail wagged and it was able to post 9-176 off their 40 overs, while Armadale stumbled to 3-28 in response.
Jordan Armstrong made an impression in his first grade debut for the club as they smashed eight sixes on his way to 85.
No other batsman made double figures as Armadale were rolled for 140.
Third Grade went down to Leeming, who batted first and looked comfortable at 1-76.
Stacey Barrett (3-21) and Sunil Pandey (3-23) bowled beautifully to reduce Leeming to 8-123.
Nathan Duggan (1-18 off 8), Alex Pass (1-26) and Paul Edwards (0-8 off 5) were also important.
In reply, Armadale never got going and were all out for 89, with Paul Edwards (18) and Daniel Sawyer (13) the top scorers.
Sixth grade went down to Serpentine Jarrahdale, who were kept to 8-101 by Antony Fedale (2-6 off eight overs), James Ogden (2-19 off seven overs) and Liam Pickett (2-24).
However, they could make only 39 in response as their batting order crumbled.
