Something for Mall musical tastes
WHETHER it is world music, pop, blues and roots, gospel or some good old Christmas classics, there will be something for everyone’s musical tastes in this year’s Music in the Mall program.
The Jull Street Mall will play host to free outdoor concerts from the likes of the Katherine John Trio, Matilda and City Slickers every Friday in November and December as part of the City of Armadale’s popular Music in the Mall event.
Ian Simpson from the City Slickers, who will perform music ranging from Glen Campbell to Creedence Clearwater Revival to Bruce Springsteen for their December 1 set, said he had performed in the Music in the Mall series before and was excited to be asked back.
“I always enjoy performing, and playing in the Mall is great because you are playing for people wandering by who may never have heard the kind of music you play,” the musician said.
“It’s great when you see the look on people’s faces, generally making people happy, I love that.
“I urge everyone to come and see us and all the other groups playing at the Music in the Mall series. It’s always a nice atmosphere during the performance.”
Armadale Mayor Henry Zelones said they were proud to support local musicians in the fourth instalment of this event.
“Armadale has a wide community of talented musicians and we are delighted to be able to bring a diverse range back to the mall again this year,” he said.
“We hope everyone will come and enjoy the sounds of the talented artists in our community while enjoying their lunch break or taking a reprieve from their festive shopping; there’s something for every taste.”
