Councillors’ Corner

Comment News (Gosnells) - - What's On -

Being a local Councillor gives me an opportunity to work with many organisations and government agencies and I’d like to share some insight into how we work with them for the benefit of our community. Aside from the many rules and regulations under which the Council operates, there are a number of partnerships which the City values. The State Government is our biggest partner as we operate under its authority. The Federal Government plays a vital role in the function of local governments through funding, which in the case of Gosnells, is allocated in relation to population. Our partnership with the Rivers Regional Council is close to securing an outcome that will save ratepayers millions of dollars, while the City’s work with the Joint Development Assessment Panel represents another important partnership that allows developers to have applications, valued at more than $2 million, adjudicated by the Panel and independent of Council. I believe the most important partnership, in terms of meeting the community’s needs, is between Councillors and City staff, as it allows us to provide good leadership. Please contact any of the City’s Councillors if you’d like to learn more about how we work – we are here to help and listen.
