The bru­tal­ist build­ing of the Univer­sity of En­gi­neer­ing and Tech­nol­ogy in Peru’s cap­i­tal has al­ready caused quite a stir – it was awarded the In­ter­na­tional Prize by the Royal In­sti­tute of Bri­tish Ar­chi­tects for 2016 – and Brand Lab was asked to help with the sig­nalling and in­ter­nal nav­i­ga­tion of the com­plex struc­ture.

Tak­ing into ac­count the open, in­tri­cate de­sign of the build­ing, the brand-con­sult­ing studio’s nav­i­ga­tion sys­tem is based on points and lines, to rep­re­sent stops and con­nec­tions. “It’s in­spired by the way en­gi­neers think,” ex­plains art di­rec­tor An­drés Naka­matsu. “They want to un­der­stand, sim­plify and seek func­tion­al­ity, gen­er­at­ing con­nec­tions to achieve solutions.”
