SUMMERHILL MAR­KET IDEN­TITY

Fam­ily-run bou­tique gro­cery store Summerhill Mar­ket was look­ing for a new iden­tity that would be more in keep­ing with its spirit. “Apart from the qual­ity of its foods, what made Summerhill Mar­ket such a beloved des­ti­na­tion was its at­ten­tive and per­son­able ser­vice,” says Blok’s Steven Tachauer. “We set out to reaf­firm its value with a new con­tem­po­rary clar­ity that re­tained the brand’s warmer traits.”

Blok re­designed Summerhill’s logo and pack­ag­ing sys­tem, with a fo­cus on aes­thetic clar­ity. “Pat­terns in­spired by tex­tures found in food pro­vide a de­lib­er­ate jux­ta­po­si­tion to the clean lines, and bring an emo­tional ex­pe­ri­ence to the iden­tity,” says Tachauer. “A mono­gram hon­ours the store’s her­itage, while the line ‘Your Other Kitchen’ re­in­forces its role in cus­tomer’s lives.”
