Abstract vocal effects with Harmony Engine Evo
One aspect of the track that Matt’s particularly proud of is the weird and wonderful vocal effect created with Antares Harmony Engine Evo.
“Now this is interesting!” he enthuses. “It’s kind of a Bon Iver-style harmoniser made by Antares, who make Auto-Tune, and it’s been great for me – it’s really cool. I’ve used it on here in the chorus. I used this on a remix for Dua Lipa, and it’s the preset from that, which I’ve saved. The effect is actually triggered via MIDI and I’ve muted the passthrough of the original audio, so we’ve got a four-part harmony that can be played in MIDI. It’s great because you can adjust the spread, and change the register. That’s been bounced and it sits behind the chorus in the mix; it just gives it a bit of a backbone there.”
