1 Two steps forward and one step back! Some old favourites are back to wreak havoc on your samples. Yes, it’s the return of Precomputed effects in the Sampler Channel. Continuing from the previous tutorial, click the Precomputed effects button (it looks like a vacuum tube).

2 We’ve still got our drum loop sample trimmed down to a single hit. Perfect. Tap the Clip button, then crank the Boost knob up to around 11 o’clock. The waveform in the display indicates a massive increase in gain, and the sound is crunchy and aggressive.

3 The return of Precomputed effects also brings back one of FL Studio’s strangest effects: Ring Modulation. You can do it elsewhere, but having it in the Sampler Channel is as immediate as it gets. Crank up the RM Mix amount and have a play with the RM Freq knob.
