With the basic loop built, it was time for GDC to get involved. “We did another session all together when Toby came in with Luke –the keyboard player from GDC, amongst other bands – to add some guitar and keys,” recalls Brad. “We added a piano, recorded using Luke’s Nord Stage 2, with reverb from the Nord DI’d into the interface. Really simple. Then a bubble, which was a Nord Lead.”

“The intention was to have the programmed drums nice and tight, with the feel that you get when you have loops going,” adds Toby, “but then to get the live effect of someone playing over it a bit more freely. Between those two things you kind of get this ‘push and pull’, which is really effective.”

“Then Toby did some guitar, a guitar skank,” Brad continues. “It’s got the UAD Galaxy Tape Echo on it, through a spring reverb. Then there’s the Twang Reverb, just very subtly set up in Guitar Rig.”
