She’s behind the lens capturing a couple’s most special day!

When did your love of photography begin?

My parents bought me a Pentax film camera when I was 10. Photography was exciting from the very first click!

When did you shoot your first wedding?

About 11 years ago. I was a little nervous but surprised by how natural it felt to capture the day as a story for the couple.

What do you love most about your job?

Imagine standing in a room overflowing with happy people, laughter and love… and then you get to do the thing you’re passionate about in that environment!

What’s the best part of working within the wedding industry?

Seeing people at their happiest and contributing to that.

How would you describe your style?

Natural in both content and approach. My aesthetic is glowy and fresh, with a fashion editorial influence.

Any memorable weddings?

They’re all special in their own way; they’re days full of personality. A particularly memorable one was a celebrity wedding in Bali. It was very elaborate and a visual treat!

What are you asked most by brides?

Usually if the photographer they meet with will be the person shooting their wedding. Also, how much retouching I do (not much). I’m a big believer in getting it right at the time. I think a background in fashion helps a lot because you know how to make people look their best.

How far ahead should brides book the photographer?

I’d say 12 to 18 months ahead if you’re having a Saturday wedding during peak season, as those dates book quickly. Your photographer can offer you some direction regarding the running order of your day, too, which can be very helpful if you’re feeling overwhelmed.

Should they bring references?

If you have ideas, references are great. Just keep in mind they’re best used for inspiration, rather than something to directly copy.

What’s next for Milenko Weddings?

We’re currently gearing up for another big wedding season, and have some beautiful bridal fashion editorials hitting shelves over the next few months. I’ve met a lot of wedding couples and can’t wait to capture their love stories – and many more – for a long time to come.
