Getting married IN HAWAII
AFTER OUR CRAZY-FUN FASHION SHOOT AT THE ROYAL HAWAIIAN (SEE PAGE 158), WE FELL IN LOVE WITH THE IDEA OF TYING THE KNOT THERE! HERE’S THE LOWDOWN…
How to get there
Hawaiian Airlines (hawaiianairlines.com. au) flies daily from Sydney and four times weekly from Brisbane to Honolulu, plus to the neighbouring islands of Maui, Kauai and Hawai’i, or Big Island. The airline offers every passenger a free checked-baggage allowance of 64kg per person (2 x 32kg bags), so it’s perfect for bridal parties and honeymooners! Flights from Australia depart in the evening, crossing the international date line and arriving in Honolulu the same morning – bonus holiday time! Meaning you can land and be by the pool with a cocktail in hand by mid-afternoon.
The airline even has a Wedding Wings service (hawaiianairlines.com/ weddings), which offers couples getting married in Hawaii (and their guests) a way to earn discounts, such as up to 10 per cent discount for the bride and groom (and a possible upgrade!) and a five per cent discount for guests.
Oh, and be sure to check out the airline’s brand new lie-flat beds in the Premium Cabin to get your nuptials off to a great start – ah-mazing. Perfect pre-wedding relaxation!

PRETTY IN PINK Featuring 89 shades of pink (one for each year since the hotel has been built), expect the romantic hue in everything from the flowers and chairs to the food and cocktails. Sign us UP!
BOHO CHIC A relaxed, simple and chic vibe. Bouquets feature local f lowers, and you can expect beautiful produce and vendors from the island community.
VINTAGE 1927 Enjoy the glamour of the 1920s! It’s dramatic and gorgeous, with jazz music, ostrich feathers and more.
PAPARAZZI For modern brides who love tech, think colourful lanterns, chalkboards and customised signage, plus a virtual guest book with Instagram photos from guests. Even the kitchen staff will share pics of the food and cake decoration!
PEARLY SHELLS This free-spirited theme is pared back and totally chic. A simple ukulele player and minister, white and light blue f lorals, mason jars, rustic glassware and knotty driftwood make everything irresistibly pretty.
