My love affair with Country Style started about 20 years ago. I was a busy mum back then with three boys and one with a disability. When this young man left school, I wondered how I would fill his days and give his life meaning. I had a stash of magazines I’d never had time to read and one day I thought, “Maybe he would like a trip to the country.” Like is an understatement. Every afternoon at 3pm was CS time and this ritual continued for 15 years. During this time, Mum went into care with dementia. So I gathered up ‘My Country Childhood’ articles and read them to her. It was the interaction and time shared that allowed her to connect with a time and place she remembered. Those magazines could have sat there gathering dust, but we decided a story shared is a story enhanced. So thank you, Country Style. In this family, you gladdened hearts and lifted spirits.
