Citizenship fiasco punishes people

Countryman - - OPINION -

Judging by the decision of the High Court, it would appear that when the Australian government changed the definition of an Australian citizen, it inadvertently bestowed foreign citizenship upon hundreds of thousands, if not millions, of our people.

I am one of those people, but until the dual citizenship fiasco erupted in Federal Parliament, it was a situation about which I was blithely unaware.

Why should individuals, including our politicians, be penalised for this incompetence?
