Update to provide ‘farm-ready’ results

Countryman - - NEWS -

Growers, investors and agricultural researchers will soon make their way to WA for the biggest event on the State’s $5 billion grain industry calendar.

Registrations have opened for Grains Research Development Corporation’s 2018 Grains Research Update, at Crown Perth on February 26 and 27.

The two-day program aims to showcase the latest technology, research, market development and management innovations.

GRDC western regional panel chairman Peter Roberts said the line-up included a range of national and international speakers, including Colorado State University professor Todd Gaines.

“The update provides a mix of ‘farm-ready’ research results that growers can apply directly to their farming operations,” he said.

“As well as unique perspectives about leading trends in grain production and agriculture provided by Australian and international speakers.”

Mr Roberts said GRDC investment directions, innovation and the impact of new enabling grain breeding technologies for Australian grain growers would be among speakers’ themes.

He said keynote speaker Martin Abell, of Precision Decisions in the UK, would speak about his Hands-Free robotic grain-farming project.

Other speakers include Australian Grain Technologies chief executive Haydn Kuchel, GRDC’s Nicole Jensen and Colorado State University professor Todd Gaines.

The Perth event will be complemented by oneday events in Northampton on February 23, Darkan on February 28 and Corrigin on March 1. Discounts for early-bird registration close on January 28.
