SPA on hunt for board directors

Countryman - - WOOL - Zach Relph

Sheep Producers Australia is seeking applicants to vie for two director positions on its board.

Incumbent directors Allan Piggott, from Moorlands in South Australia, and Ian McColl, based at the New South Wales town of Koorawatha, will retire from their respective posts at next month’s annual general meeting on November 20.

However, both directors are eligible to stand for re-election.

SPA chief executive Graham Smith said the group was seeking member-based candidates experienced in the agricultural sector, particularly the sheep industry, with strong farming knowledge.

“SPA has come through an exciting 12 months, having transitioned to a company limited by guarantee and inducted a new board and developed its policy committee structure,” he said.

“There have been many achievements, and many challenges ahead, which is why SPA needs a diversity of strategic thinkers who bring highlevel knowledge and experience to the board.

“Candidates must outline their capacity as a strategic thinker and their ability to challenge and suggest alternatives in a collaborative manner.”

Applications are required to be supported by a SPA State member, such as WAFarmers, Pastoralists and Graziers Association of WA, Agforce, NSWFarmers and Victorian Farmers Federation.

Mr Smith urged budding applicants to view information outlining the application process at sheepproduc before applying.

Applications close on Friday, October 26.
