Make a… cushion
Step 1 COMPLETE
the stitching, then cut the evenweave so that you have a 2.5cm (1in) border of unstitched fabric around your design, plus a seam allowance of 1.25cm (½in).
Step 2 ADD
pompom trim to your cushion. Place your stitched cushion front face-up on the table, and then place the trim around the edge, approximately 2.5cm (1in) from the outer edge of the stitching – the pompoms should be facing towards the middle of the cushion with the tape at the edge. Pin to the evenweave, and then tack or baste on a sewing machine to hold in place.
Step 3 PLACE
the cushion front right-sides together with the backing fabric. Pin, then machine stitch around the edge with a 1.25cm (½in) seam allowance, leaving a gap for turning – take care that you do not catch any of the pompoms in the stitching.
Step 4 TURN
to the right side, fill with toy stuffing and sew up the gap with small, neat stitches.
