Make a… keyring strap Step 1 MAKE

a keyring strap using the charts, by stitching your chosen design on plastic aida, and then cut the aida to measure 3x25cm (1½x9¾in). As the plastic aida is 14 count, the design will look much smaller than the strap that’s free with our print edition. You may want to cross stitch the remaining background area with bright blue stranded cotton. If you would prefer a larger design, stitch on 8 count aida, backing the fabric with iron-on Vilene, or use Fray Check or fabric glue on the edges to stop it fraying.

Step 2 FINISH

the keyring strap from the print edition by swiping the end of the strap with the small block of holes through a slip ring. Fold down the other end, lining up the holes on the front and back. Stitch through the holes to fix the ends together and enclose the split ring. Fold the strap so that the design is on the front, and then trim away any excess strap at the bottom of the keyring. If you are making the plastic aida or the aida strap, assemble the strap in exactly the same way.
